Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to treat varicose and spider veins by injecting a chemical solution (sclerosant) directly into the affected vessel. This solution irritates the vein lining, causing it to collapse and seal shut. Over time, the body absorbs the closed vein, rerouting blood to healthier veins.

Procedure and Recovery

• Session Length: The treatment typically takes 15 to 45 minutes and is performed in an outpatient setting without the need for anesthesia.
• Aftercare: Patients are usually required to wear compression stockings for one to two weeks following the procedure to minimize swelling and aid in vein collapse.
• Results: Results start to become visible in three to six weeks for spider veins, while larger varicose veins can take up to three to four months to fully fade. Depending on the severity of the veins, multiple sessions spaced four to six weeks apart may be necessary.
